Worldchefs Congress & Expo: International, Global, Monumental. For the first time in 100 years, Russia will host the world’s main gastronomic event.

On August 21, Izvestia will host a talk by Thomas Gugler, private chef of the King of Saudi Arabia and President of Worldchefs, who will share his insight on the St. Petersburg Worldchefs Congress & Expo 2020 national and international objectives pertaining to the development of global gastronomic culture.

The event is expected to attract several thousand chefs, restaurateurs, and hoteliers from around the world. The Russian team will compete in the Global Chef Challenges, while the professional community will compare Congress participants’ international experiences and discuss such global issues as quality, education, creative potential, and gender balance in the industry, as well as the automation of the restaurant business.

The first Congress was held in the beginning of the twentieth century and over the past 90 years has been attracting top culinary experts. 38 cities have had the honor of hosting this event, and finally in 2020 Russia will host the Worldchefs Congress for the first time. Founded in Sorbonne in 1928, the World Association of Chefs and Societies, which organizes the event, is a global authority on culinary arts and hospitality. Formika Group is the operator of the Worldchefs Congress & Expo.
